Admissions

At Windermere School and Windermere Preparatory School we welcome enquiries from prospective students and their families of all ages and nationalites.

For general enquiries, to arrange a vist, order a prospectus or to speak with the Admissions department please contact admissions@windermereschool.co.uk or telephone +44 (0)15394 46164

The first step is to contact Admissions for a discussion about your educational requirements. An information pack which contains a registration form, fees, term dates and details of scholarships and bursaries is available on request.

The next stage is to arrange a visit. This can either be at an Open Day, or a personal tour can be arranged. We suggest that term time is best so that our guests can see the school on a typical day. Meetings can also be arranged with the Senior School Headmaster for entry in Years 7 to Sixth Form, and the Preparatory Headmaster for entry in Reception to Year 6. Some parents wish to visit initially without their children and arrange a second visit with children at a later date. We are flexible and accommodate to suit preferences.

For all admissions enquiries please contact admissions@windermereschool.co.uk or or telephone +44 (0)15394 46164

The first points of entry for the Preparatory School begins with our parent and toddler group Ducklings, continuing with Ducklings Two for 2 year olds, Pre School from the term a child is 3 years old, and Reception at the age of 4. It can usually be arranged for pupils to enter in each year group at any time of the year.

The usual points of entry into the Senior School are year are in line with national and international intake years.

For entry into Years 7, 8, 9, and 10, Entrance Examinations are set in English and Mathematics. Candidates will have a short interview with the Headmaster. References from previous schools are requested.

For entry into the Pre-IB Programme, greater emphasis is placed on previous school reports and the interview.

For entry into Year 12, and onto the IB programmes, previous examination results will take the place of internal assessment papers.

Year 7 - This is the first year of the Senior School. Many of our pupils join directly from the Preparatory School, along with new pupils. Familiarisation visits begin two years prior when students are in Year 5.  All interested applicants are invited during the summer term for a Boarding Taster and Activity weekend. This is a relaxed opportunity to meet other students that will be in the Senior school, and to experience a weekend of fun in what will be a new school.  When students are in Year 6, they are invited to sit Assessment papers and Scholarships which are traditionally held in the January of the academic year prior to entry.

We also accept students
Year 9 and 10:  For entry in the GCSE and IGCSE programme
Year 11:  For entry in the Pre-IB course
Year 12: For entry into the Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the Windermere Vocational Diploma.

All offers of a place are conditional upon the submission of a completed medical questionnaire.
