We are thrilled to share the exciting adventures of Year 6 as they recently embarked on a journey to Windermere Fire Station. This immersive trip was not only an educational experience but also an unforgettable adventure into the world of safety and emergency services.

Upon arrival, our pupils were greeted by the men and women of the Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, along with officers from the Cumbria Police. The afternoon kicked off with learning about things such as the vital importance of road safety, online safety, car safety and fire safety, delivered by knowledgeable experts who are dedicated to keeping our communities safe.

One highlight of the visit was the hands-on learning experiences offered to our pupils. They had the opportunity to engage with state-of-the-art technology, including virtual reality (VR) headsets, which transported them into immersive scenarios where they learned valuable lessons about emergency preparedness and response.

Another unforgettable moment was when our pupils stepped into a room filled with simulated smoke, providing them with a first-hand experience of what it’s like during a fire emergency. This interactive demonstration not only educated them about fire safety protocols but also instilled in them a respect for the bravery of the firefighters.
