If you’d like to join our International Summer School as a member of staff, helping us to deliver a top-quality programme to our international students, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
Roles are varied, but all include working as part of a dedicated team caring for the welfare of students throughout their stay and require a high level of commitment. The rewards are many: a salary commensurate with the responsibilities involved; free accommodation and meals; in-house laundry service; and regular days off.

CURRENT VACANCIES

Centre Manager
The Centre Manager will assume full responsibility for the successful operation of the Summer School. As such, we are looking for a candidate with extensive managerial experience - preferably one who has experience of working in other summer schools.

Reporting to the Summer School Director, and working closely with other members of the senior team, the Centre Manager will work an extended day ensuring the smooth running of the operation at all times. It will be your job to welcome visitors to the campus and to lead daily staff meetings as well as to prepare staff rotas.

Applicants should be experienced, versatile professionals with relevant experience, excellent organisational skills and a keen attention to detail. It would be advantageous if you could demonstrate grace under pressure, the ability to motivate staff - and a good sense of humour on occasion!

Salary in the region of £650 per week.
Recreation Programme Organiser
The Recreation Programme Organiser will undertake to ensure the smooth running of the activities programme. For this role, we’d like to employ someone with experience of a variety of sports and other activities and who can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of health and safety issues.

Reporting to the Centre Director, the RPO will oversee the preparation of the activities programme to ensure each activity is carried out to the highest safety standards. Your job will also include the supervision of evening entertainment, arrangement of transportation, facilities and equipment where necessary and organisation of alternative activities - if for example, wet weather stops play!

You should have - and be able to demonstrate - an extensive knowledge of sports and have professional experience of working with children. High energy levels are a must!

Salary in the region of £600 per week.
Director of Studies
The Director of Studies will be responsible for the implementation of the EFL programme which forms an essential part of the International Summer School curriculum. As such, we're looking to appoint a professional of the highest calibre with appropriate EFL qualifications and extensive teaching experience.

Reporting to the Centre Director, the Director of Studies will assume responsibility for the day-to-day running of the EFL programme, leading teachers and observing classes to ensure high standards are maintained, as well as supervising the testing of students to ascertain ability levels in advance of group allocation. You will work closely with the senior management team to deliver a well-balanced curriculum suited to the needs of the students and will lead and motivate staff to inspire and educate.

You will have a wealth of teaching experience and an in-depth understanding of EFL requirements. Your excellent organisational skills will impress and you should already be an accomplished 'summer-schooler'!

Salary in the region of £600 per week.
Welfare Officer
Welfare Officers will be responsible for the overall well-being of the students in our care and is one of the most valued positions in the International Summer School. We’d like to hear from candidates who enjoy caring for young people and who are resolutely patient, sensitive and caring.

Reporting to the Centre Director, Welfare Officers will work with House Parents to ensure the health and happiness of visiting students at all times. Duties will be varied, but will include supervising hygiene and cleanliness as well as offering a sympathetic ear for students who may be missing home and find themselves in need of a kind word and a friendly face.

No specific qualifications are required, though a genuine enjoyment of working with children and the ability to demonstrate a caring ethos through thick and thin are essential character traits for this challenging, yet rewarding position.

Fixed salary of £400 per week.
Activities Staff
Required for afternoons only, Activities Staff are involved in the planning, preparation, support and implementation of a full programme of afternoon and evening activities. We’re keen to receive applications from energetic, outgoing and conscientious candidates who are able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team to deliver a varied range of indoor and outdoor activities.

Reporting to the Recreation Programme Organiser, Activities Staff will prepare and lead activity sessions, supervising students in an age-appropriate way. Naturally, health and safety issues will be at the forefront of your mind during each activity and excursion. Additionally, you may be responsible for residential welfare duties or assisting with airport transfers.

No specific qualifications are required (though pay increments are available for lifeguard, first aid or coaching qualifications), but you must be at least 18 years old to apply. This post would definitely suit an enthusiastic, hard-working and safety-conscious individual who perhaps already has experience of working with young people.

Salary dependent on hours worked.
EFL Teachers
EFL teachers deliver the all-important English lessons to our international students, tailoring their programmes of study to suit varying levels of English and ensuring students make the most of their brief time at Windermere School. We need talented professionals with appropriate EFL qualifications and a positive passion for teaching!

Reporting to the Director of Studies, EFL teachers will plan and prepare their morning lessons, liaising with other team members to provide a high-quality learning experience for every student. Teachers also have the option to become more involved in the camp - whether running some pracical workshops in art, drama or photography or assisting with activities and entertainment to supervising students’ evening routines on a rota basis. All options would be discussed with the Director of Windermere Summer School well before the start of the course but teachers can choose to simply teach the mornings or get even more involved with additional activities! 

Applicants need to be educated to degree level with EFL qualifications and relevant teaching experience. It also helps to be flexible, organised and energetic!
