Windermere School is introducing some additional qualifications to its prospectus from September 2013 and incorporating a selection of A-level subjects to complement its offering.
The school currently delivers teaching of International Baccalaureate Diploma, IB certificates and BTECs as part of its curriculum. The A-level subjects on offer from the start of the next school year will be art, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, geography and physical education.
“We are delighted to be able to provide A-level teaching in seven initial subjects and the list is likely to expand in the future,” says Jane Scott, Head of Admissions. “We have a number of students who start in reception and really enjoy their time here, but look elsewhere when it comes to Sixth Form because they want to obtain A-level qualifications.
“By introducing these new courses we can now offer a broader selection of subjects and qualifications so students can choose which is the most appropriate for them.”
The first time my daughter and I visited the school she said to me “that is a happy school no question.” The scholastic achievements of the school are evident and an easy measure for a school to demonstrate. What is hard to quantify is the holistic development of a pupil at which, in my experience, Windermere School excels.
Windermere School is such a unique community to be a part of. Not only is it based in a truly beautiful and inspiring national park, but the environment created by staff and students alike makes for an incredibly supportive, proactive, exciting and international place of learning in which everyone can thrive and be the best they can be.
