We welcome international students to our friendly school, where they will find happy and hardworking students on a safe and spacious campus.
Our caring staff provide a smooth transition and offer English language support and extra tuition at all levels.
Many students choose to visit Windermere School for a personal tour and a meeting with the Headmaster. This can be arranged by prior appointment during term time through the Admissions department. All new students are matched with an academic tutor for personal assistance along with a mentor, in their own year group, to guide them around the school and introduce them to their classmates.
Dormitories have full-time residential Housemasters and Housemistresses, with a qualified Nurse and medical room on the premises. The school provides an escorted airport collection service on dedicated travel days. International students receive specialised EAL (English as an Additional Language) tuition from our experienced tutors, and have the option of a tailored package of study options to suit individual requirements for a small additional fee.
Students also have the option of participating in a Boarding Taster, where they can spend the night in one of the three Boarding Houses appropriate for their age. Students are warmly welcomed and are matched with students in their year group to attend classes, meet the teachers and make new friends. They will experience a full day which will include all meals and an after-school sport or activity of their choice. This is a firmly established method of familiarisation, and enables students to experience the benefits of school life at Windermere School.
Our students benefit from studying in an outstandingly beautiful environment, yet we are only five minutes from the shops at Windermere, only 90 minutes from the international airports of Manchester and Liverpool, and three hours from London by high speed train service. Staying connected with family and friends is easy with our many IT facilities, WiFi, Skype and computer suites.
The first time my daughter and I visited the school she said to me “that is a happy school no question.” The scholastic achievements of the school are evident and an easy measure for a school to demonstrate. What is hard to quantify is the holistic development of a pupil at which, in my experience, Windermere School excels.
Windermere School is such a unique community to be a part of. Not only is it based in a truly beautiful and inspiring national park, but the environment created by staff and students alike makes for an incredibly supportive, proactive, exciting and international place of learning in which everyone can thrive and be the best they can be.
