Mrs King graduated with a joint Honours MA in History and History of Art and gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Education following a placement in a primary school setting. Since this time, Mrs King has been a Head of Department, Head of a Boarding House and Head of Faculty in various schools. She has been an active participant in two governing bodies and has been the vice chair of a finance committee.
As a Faculty leader, Mrs King was seconded for three years to work with the Wirral Local Authority as an Advisory Teacher, ensuring the best provision for all pupils in both primary and secondary schools. This included providing continuing professional development for staff, delivering outstanding lessons in schools, supporting leadership teams with school improvement and inspection, and working with the Department for Education on a review of the primary National Curriculum for schools in England.
During this time, Mrs King completed her National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and a further Post Graduate Qualification in Education from the University of Chester. Following her secondment, Mrs King was appointed as an Assistant Headteacher in a newly opened Free School, with a focus on the development of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. From there. she joined Windermere School as the Director of Student Pathways and Careers, overseeing the tutoring system, English as an Additional Language and Learning Support.
The first time my daughter and I visited the school she said to me “that is a happy school no question.” The scholastic achievements of the school are evident and an easy measure for a school to demonstrate. What is hard to quantify is the holistic development of a pupil at which, in my experience, Windermere School excels.
Windermere School is such a unique community to be a part of. Not only is it based in a truly beautiful and inspiring national park, but the environment created by staff and students alike makes for an incredibly supportive, proactive, exciting and international place of learning in which everyone can thrive and be the best they can be.
