The Early Years curriculum at the Elleray Campus of Windermere School is rooted in a practical learning-through-play approach that is structured and balanced, as well as being relevant to each individual child and to the world around us.
Each room in the Early Years area has access to the self-enclosed infant garden where children can thrive in the natural environment and explore the world of imagination, creation and fantasy with inspiration from unspoilt views the beautiful Lake Windermere and Lake District fells beyond.
Children can join us from their third birthday (Windermere School accepts nursery entitlement vouchers) and begin a journey of discovery that encompasses a wide range of experiences: from music-making to plum-picking in our own orchard; watching the newborn lambs in the adjacent meadow; writing their own name for the first time; or performing in the school nativity play.
The Elleray Campus also has a Forest School located within the grounds, a wonderful learning environment for our young pupils.
The first time my daughter and I visited the school she said to me “that is a happy school no question.” The scholastic achievements of the school are evident and an easy measure for a school to demonstrate. What is hard to quantify is the holistic development of a pupil at which, in my experience, Windermere School excels.
