Learn to Sail, or develop your existing skills, at Windermere School’s private water sports centre on the shores of Windermere Lake.
Our morning courses are suitable for complete beginners and novices, while our afternoon sessions are perfect for more experienced sailors (RYA Class 3 and 4 and beyond). Pupils can sail in a range of dinghies including our fleet of brand new Zest craft according to wind conditions and skill levels.
Taught by our highly qualified RYA instructors, Mr Andy Monk and Mr Graeme Rowe, and our team of assistant instructors, all of whom are either current pupils or ex pupils of the school. Participants can expect a hands-on, fun, and engaging experience. They will push their personal boundaries, develop new skills and become more confident on the water learning resilience and self confidence. A breakfast club is also available from 9am please email John Lightburn for details.
Hodge Howe, our private water sports centre, is accredited by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) as an officially recognised club for British Youth Sailing. Windermere School is the only school in the UK to hold this status.
Both morning and afternoon sessions will see pupils work their way through the RYA courses and each pupil will have their own personal logbook recording their progress. More advanced courses available on request.
The cost of both the morning and afternoon course is £200 for the week and is suitable for pupils aged 8-17 years. The morning course runs from 10am to 1pm while the afternoon session runs from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. We also offer taster sessions on request please just get in touch!
