On the strength of the recent results, 80% of pupils who applied to university secured their first-choice university.

 

This figure is in-line with our five-year average. A further 13% secured their insurance choice, and the remainder successfully secured places through the Clearing process. These universities included University College London, Exeter University, Edinburgh University, St. Andrews and the University of Manchester.

WINDERMERE SCHOOL'S SECOND BEST EVER RESULT

Windermere School’s Class of 2020 secured the best ever result for the second time in the Core. The Core is made up of three required components that aim to broaden pupils’ educational experience and challenges them to apply their knowledge and skills.

The Extended Essay is a mini dissertation and is excellent preparation for higher education; Theory of Knowledge is a philosophical course in which students reflect on the nature of knowledge and Creativity, Activity and Service allows students to take part in a range of experiences and do what they feel passionate about. The Core is unique to the Diploma Programme and is particularly attractive to universities. 

These are highly recognised components have often secured our students’ offers. This year, our mean Core score was 1.97 (out of 3), exceeding the world average in 2018 by 0.75 points.
