Welcome to Junior School - Pre-School to Year 6
With adventurous learning at the heart of our provision, children learn vital skills that they take back into the classroom, as well as take with them through life. Whether they are taking part in Forest School, Adventure lessons, performing on the outdoor stage, or studying wind speeds at the top of Orrest Head, there is always challenge, fresh air and enjoyment.
There is a warmth, vibrancy, and kindness at Elleray that makes it a very special place to learn and grow. I would be delighted to welcome you and your family to Elleray, Windermere School.
– Jenny Davies, Head of Elleray
A Learning Adventure
The outdoors is as important as the indoors and both environments complement each other displaying natural resources and places in which to play, learn and discover. The children also benefit from discovering our beautiful grounds and do so regularly on welly walks and by using our Forest School. We are lucky enough to have a private watersports centre on the edge of Lake Windermere which the children use regularly from Year 3 onwards.
Small class sizes
Small class sizes enable our lively, energetic teachers to quickly form close relationships with children and parents. The broad curriculum offers children the opportunity to develop interests in a wide variety of subjects and to begin taking important steps to developing self-esteem and confidence in their ability to learn.
A love of learning
Windermere Junior School is a place where children race to their classrooms each morning ready to greet their teacher, their friends and to start the day with a wealth of creative possibilities and challenges.
A love of learning and an enthusiasm for challenges produces confident, highly motivated pupils who arrive every morning with a smile.
It has been known that they even count the days off in the holidays until it is time to come back to school!
The opportunity to have fun
The children spend their days in well-equipped, bright classrooms or enjoying the extensive grounds that Windermere has to offer.
If children are happy and feel secure in a stimulating and active environment they are more likely to embrace the challenges and possibilities that a school like Windermere provides.
A high staff to pupil ratio
Windermere is a deliberately small school.
Pupils are known and cherished for who they are, every family is a vital part of our community and the voices of everyone are heard.
Our classes are small, our pupils are happy, our education is bespoke and the results are stunning.
