Welcome to Windermere Senior School
Year 7 to 11

Windermere Senior School for children aged 11-18 years, is situated on our stunning Browhead estate. This is where our pupils not only realise their true potential but achieve it.

The woodland campus, overlooking Windermere, is a vibrant and busy community made up of young people from the North West of England, further afield in the UK and from overseas. This mix has broadly even numbers of boys and girls, and a similar ratio of boarding to day pupils, and all are thoroughly integrated into the life of the school. Day pupils are always welcome in the boarding houses and are encouraged to spend the odd night at school.

The main school building, Browhead, is the hub of school activity. Langdale House, our lodge-style Boarding House for girls and boys, has a spacious common room and timber deck for all pupils to enjoy during break times. Hearty meals keep us going, served from our impressive dining hall with views over Lake Windermere. Seven days a week full breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are provided for boarding pupils, and weekday hot lunches are provided for day pupils.

Small class sizes, highly-skilled staff dedicated to our educational ethos of ‘learning by doing’, and a full range of opportunities and facilities have all helped the school to maintain consistently high academic standards. Pupils are guided  towards their GCSE examinations and encouraged to look ahead to the challenges of the Sixth Form, with stunning results. View our GCSE results here >
