Welcome to Windermere School in the heart of the Lake District National Park.
Established in 1863, we are a co-educational boarding and day school for students age 3 to 18 years. With access to a spectacular greater classroom, we live our school motto:
Vincit qui se Vincit. One conquers, who conquers oneself.
Head's Welcome
Welcome to Windermere School an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school for students aged 3 – 18 years, in the heart of the English Lake District.
I believe that people are what make a good school great and I am proud to lead an exceptional team at Windermere School, from teachers and grounds staff to chefs and receptionists.
From their first day, children are nurtured and guided through a range of high-quality learning experiences, leaving us at the end of Sixth Form as confident, compassionate and responsible young people with a love for learning, ready to embrace the life that lies ahead of them.
– Ian Lavender, Headmaster
Why Windermere School?
Windermere School offers students an education which combines academic achievement with a host of extra-curricular activities, all underpinned by a spirit of adventure.
Our traditions and ethos create a supportive community within the school, where strong relationships exist between staff and students. Each student is known as an individual and this allows us to offer exceptional pastoral care.
Students often tell us that when they join the school, there is a tangible sense of being somewhere truly unique and incredibly special.
