A Warm Welcome to Our New House Parents
27 August 2025
We are delighted to welcome two new House Parents to our boarding community at Windermere School. Miss Lawlor joins as House Parent of Westmorland House, and Miss Boyes as House Parent of Langdale House. Alongside Mrs Monk, they will form a dedicated and dynamic team, supporting pupils and helping them to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Miss Lawlor – Westmorland House
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Miss Lawlor as the new House Parent of Westmorland House. Moving from a school in West Sussex to Cumbria, she brings with her a wealth of experience in both teaching and boarding, as well as an earlier career in banking in the UK and Ireland.
Miss Lawlor is passionate about supporting Sixth Form students at this pivotal stage in their journey towards independence. She is committed to ensuring that Westmorland offers not only academic support and guidance but also a warm, family atmosphere where pupils can relax, connect and thrive.
Beyond the classroom, Miss Lawlor enjoys cooking, hiking, wild swimming and camping. She is sure to settle quickly into life in the Lake District, and pupils can look forward to firepits, marshmallows, and plenty of adventures in the great outdoors. Accompanied by her dog, Kola and cat, Tim, she is excited to begin this new chapter at Windermere School.
Miss Boyes – Langdale House
We are equally thrilled to welcome Miss Boyes as the new House Parent of Langdale House. Speaking about her new role, she said:
“I’m delighted to be joining the Windermere community, one full of adventure and personal growth. Working in boarding over the past 5 years, I know the importance of creating a family environment where individuals can thrive. Whether you are a Full, Weekly, or Flexi boarder, my aim is to make Langdale a home away from home.”
After completing a Master’s degree in Literature, Miss Boyes began her career in boarding and has since gained valuable experience in both state and independent schools. She is passionate about creating an environment where boarders can develop socially and culturally, while also being supported academically.
Having lived in North Yorkshire for several years, Miss Boyes has a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Recently, she completed the Camino de Santiago and now looks forward to exploring the Lake District further, with ambitious plans to climb all of the Wainwrights during her time at Windermere.
Both Miss Lawlor and Miss Boyes bring warmth, enthusiasm, and a wealth of experience to their roles. They are eager to meet pupils and families as the new academic year begins, and we are confident they will make a wonderful contribution to our vibrant boarding community.
