ESU Performing Shakespeare Competition 2023
30 January 2023
On Friday 27 January, ten pupils from Year 7 – 9 took part in the first round of the ESU Performing Shakespeare Competition.
Pairs had to learn by heart a 3-minute extract from one of Shakespeare’s plays and perform it for an audience without any props or costumes.
We had a brilliant variety of scenes taken from: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet, and after a difficult decision for the judges, Grace LS, Millie B, Josh S and Morgan M were chosen to progress to the next round.
The standard this year was very high and there will be a chance for all the remaining performers to take part in the drama showcase in the summer. Our winners will now compete against other schools in the second round, which we are hoping the school can host at the end of Feb/March.
Well done to all involved!
