Redefining Limits: An Inspiring Reflection with Michelle Rothwell

25 September 2025

Yesterday, we were privileged to welcome back Stannite Michelle Rothwell to deliver a whole-school Reflection — a session that left a lasting impression on pupils and staff alike.

A mother of three, successful businesswoman, and trailblazer in the world of endurance sport, Michelle has built an extraordinary legacy. She holds multiple world records in ultra-distance events, including the legendary Enduroman — a gruelling triathlon linking London and Paris — and recently designed and conquered her own bold challenge, the Shelly Rothwell Round.

During her talk, Michelle shared powerful lessons drawn from her remarkable journey, offering insights into how we can all push beyond perceived limits. She spoke about:

  • Breaking down huge goals into smaller, manageable steps

  • Drawing on school experiences as a foundation for resilience

  • Refusing to “write things off” and staying open to possibilities

  • Turning setbacks into strengths and transforming negatives into positives

Her message of determination, innovation and perseverance was deeply inspiring, reminding us that with courage and creativity, we can achieve far more than we imagine.

A heartfelt thank you to Michelle for returning to our community and demonstrating, through her actions and words, what it means to lead with purpose and redefine what’s possible.
