Year 8 French Trip 2023

12 May 2023

What a fantastic week Year 8 had in the sunshine in France! They really embraced all the new challenges they encountered (many of them have commented that they found themselves having to move out of their comfort zones) and made great progress in speaking French – it’s amazing how quickly they learn to ask for something when they want it and the only way to get it is to ask in French! We had a jam-packed week of French lessons, circus skills, treasure hunt around Dijon, shopping at the market, cooking, archery, puzzles, treetop trek, disco, mosaic making, trying snails and playing football! Here are some highlights from some of the students:

“Overall, I loved the French trip, I would really recommend going on it but my favourite thing to do there was the accrobranche (tree top trek) because it was challenging and fun. I also liked the grounds like the football pitch and the swings. The food was good and the weather was warm.”

“The French trip was incredibly fun and enjoyable. There were so many possibilities to learn new subjects within the French language. My favourite activity was the trip to Dijon. I made so many memories there with friends, experiencing the architecture, the people and the hundreds of shops!! I incredibly recommend the French trip for anyone who is wondering if they should go.”

“I enjoyed buying food at the local market and preparing a picnic. I really enjoyed myself.”

“I really enjoyed the tree top trek and circus. I was really proud of myself when I got to the top of the ribbon.”

“My favourite part of the trip is shopping.”

“I felt really proud of myself when I completed the tree top trek.”

“My favourite activity was the circus skills and the trapeze in particular. I enjoyed the disco, and it was an amazing trip that everybody should try!”
