Our wonderful Year 13 students were celebrating their International Baccalaureate results yesterday with a 100% pass rate and outstanding individual Diploma scores. In addition, our IB Career Pathway students have also achieved a 100% rate. The mean score for our Diploma students, 32.5, is around 10% above the world average meaning that students do exceptionally well at Windermere.

“We are proud of all our Year 13 students’ efforts and achievements today,” said Head Frank Thompson. “We are a small school so to have two of our Diploma students score over 40 points (equivalent to 4 A* at A level) is exceptional. Poppy, who scored 40 points, putting her in the top 10% world-wide, is planning to study Biological Sciences at the University of Exeter. Oscar, who scored 44 points, which places him in the top 2% globally, will go to Glasgow University to study Mathematics.

A passionate mountaineer, Oscar has chosen Glasgow, not just for the strength of its Mathematics department, but also its flexibility. After 9 years at Windermere School, Oscar will study French too and will spend a year at a French university in the Alps where he can spend his weekends climbing.

Ian is accepting a degree level apprenticeship with the energy international, EDF and the University of Exeter, combining paid employment whilst gaining a Civil Engineering degree.

Being an IB School, some of our students are attending universities across the world, including, Lavinia, who was Senior Student and an integral part of the Senior Council in Year 13, and will attend university in Varna, Bulgaria to study Dentistry.
