A huge congratulations to all our sailors for their outstanding efforts at the North Region Team Racing Championships at Ripon Sailing Club this weekend. Battling torrential rain on Saturday and rewarded with sunshine on Sunday, every sailor showed resilience, teamwork and determination on the water.

The Windermere Portside Pioneers delivered an impressive performance in tough competition, qualifying for the Silver Fleet and finishing in 6th place. Their focus, communication, and energy as a team stood out against some very experienced opposition

The Windermere Starboard Strikers were on exceptional form, they showed real determination and growing confidence throughout the event, winning all but one of their races across the weekend to take 1st place in the Bronze Fleet. Their consistency and sharp tactical racing made them a force to be reckoned with.

The Windermere Wave Breakers earned a strong 5th place finish in the Bronze Fleet, with several of their races being closely contested. They showed great progress across the weekend, staying competitive in tight matchups and demonstrating teamwork and determination throughout.

It was inspiring to watch all three teams rise to the challenge of team racing, demonstrating not only their sailing skills but also their spirit and camaraderie. For many of our sailors, this was their first or second taste of team racing — and they more than rose to the occasion.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the parents and volunteers who supported us throughout the weekend — we couldn’t do it without you. Huge thanks also to Harriet Wood and Ali Wood for giving their time and expertise to provide excellent coaching in the run-up to the event. Finally, an enormous thank you to NEYYSA and Ripon Sailing Club for organising and hosting such a brilliant championship.
