An Author’s Tale: Deborah Lyon Inspires Young Readers
9 March 2025
This year, we had an extra treat in the lead up to World Book Day! We were absolutely honoured to welcome Mrs Deborah Lyon, a proud Stannite and the brilliant author of Timewaif and the Roman Road, to our school for a truly unforgettable morning of storytelling and inspiration.
Mrs Lyon captivated our pupils with a live reading from her book, drawing them into the world of Timewaif with her vivid storytelling. The excitement in the room was undeniable as our children hung onto every word, eager to hear what would happen next. Their enthusiasm carried over into a lively Q&A session, where they posed insightful and thoughtful questions about the book, her writing process, and what it’s like to be an author.
One of the most thrilling moments of the visit was when Mrs Lyon signed copies of Timewaif and the Roman Road for our young readers, creating a treasured memory for each of them. But the excitement didn’t stop there—she even gave us an exclusive insight into her next book! Needless to say, we are already looking forward to its release.
We extend a HUGE thank you to Deborah Lyon for making World Book Day even more special for our pupils. Her visit has inspired a love for reading and storytelling that will stay with them for years to come.
Here’s to more magical moments with books!
