Unveiling the inspiration behind the New Sixth Form Study Centre
25 September 2024
We are delighted to share a first glimpse of the inspiration behind the design of our Sixth Form Study Centre, set to be unveiled on Monday 4 November.
The Study Centre, designed in conjunction with the Sixth Form, serves to emphasise the importance of the final years of school, before students leave for university places, apprenticeships or the work place. The design is an extension of the Lake District environment surrounding Windermere School using natural materials and textures, plants and lighting. Each of the five district zones will help to create a calming space for the Sixth Form to study, collaborate, relax and socialise during their all important examination years.
In line with the school’s Round Square IDEALS of Environmentalism and Leadership the majority of the furniture will be reused, repurposed and upscaled. Along with the Friends of Windermere School, the Sixth Form themselves are also heavily involved with leading the fundraising efforts for the Study Centre and ran their first fundraising bake sale at Parents Evening on Tuesday 24 September, all proceeds of which will go towards the refurbishment.
Windermere School is an Independent Boarding and Day School for ages 3-18, across Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form. The school offers holiday courses and a summer school programme, as well as short term immersion courses for international pupils, as well as an award winning IB programme. Join the adventure today >
