Year 6 Spread Christmas Cheer with Advent Calendar Donation
1 December 2025
You may have seen from our recent updates that Year 6 recently visited Windermere Foodbank to deliver the cupcakes they baked for Vanilla Cupcake Day. What truly struck the children during their visit was the dedication and warmth of the volunteers who work so hard to support families in our community. Their experience left a lasting impression, and the moment they returned to school they were eager to do even more to help.
Inspired by what they had seen, Year 6 decided to organise a collection of advent calendars to help brighten Christmas for local families. They threw themselves into the project with enthusiasm, creating posters, filming videos and even speaking in assembly to spread the word.
Their initial aim was to collect 60 advent calendars, enough for two per family who regularly rely on the food bank in our area. Thanks to their hard work, and the generosity of our school community, they didn’t just meet this target-they exceeded it! On Friday 28 November, Year 6 proudly donated 75 advent calendars to Windermere Foodbank.
We are incredibly proud of their compassion, initiative and teamwork. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported this wonderful effort. Together, we have helped bring a little extra joy to families this Christmas.
