Our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh training expedition was a rewarding, successful experience, filled with both challenges and memorable moments. Despite a wet finish on Saturday, the team displayed great resilience, which made the experience even more rewarding as we learned how to adapt and push through. All the teams completed their chosen routes, carrying all of their camping equipment. Staying at the climbing club hut, Tranearth, allowed all the pupils to stay warm by the fire and cook all their meals indoors.

The rain stopped at about 7 p.m., and the wind started blowing. Testing our endurance, everyone did amazingly well, correctly pitching tents and braving the weather for an overnight stay in the tents.

Sunday made up for it with clear skies and shorter routes. The teams all walked unsupervised, navigating their way through Grizedale Forest to the visitor centre. We were all at the finish by 1 p.m., loading up and returning to school by 3 p.m. It was a trip with some hardships, rewards, and valuable lessons to take forward to the final expedition.

A big thank you to the staff who provided excellent support throughout the journey, ensuring we stayed safe and motivated. Their guidance was invaluable and helped us stay on track.
