Junior Race Team Shines at Sedbergh Regatta
21 May 2025
Last Sunday, the Windermere School Junior Race Team set sail at the Sedbergh School Junior Regatta 2025, held on the picturesque waters of Killington Lake — and what a fantastic day it was.
With eleven talented sailors across three teams, our juniors faced strong competition and even stronger winds. Despite challenging and shifting conditions, the team demonstrated outstanding resilience, teamwork, and determination throughout the event.
We’re proud to share that the team secured a well-earned second place finish — but the highlights of the day went far beyond the results:
-
Every sailor rose to the challenge, pushing their limits and growing in confidence.
-
The team supported one another with true camaraderie, both on and off the water.
-
Team Captain Isaac L made their debut in a leadership role, successfully organising teams and delivering an inspiring pre-race pep talk.
-
Our Powerboat Level 2-certified parents generously volunteered to help run safety boats, ensuring a smooth and safe day on the water.
-
And of course, our enthusiastic group of parent supporters were there in force, cheering from the shore.
A special mention goes to Tom and Will, who celebrated their birthdays at the regatta — a truly memorable way to spend the day.
A huge congratulations to the winners, Rydal Penrhos School, and an enormous thank you to Sedbergh School and Killington Sailing Association for hosting such a brilliant event. We’re so proud to have been part of it!
