Feva World Championships 2023
31 July 2023
The Feva World Championships are entering the last day in Follonica, Italy.
Windermere School is represented in the GB team by Edie, Freddie and Kiera, sailing in a huge and competitive fleet. 211 boats, 422 sailors and 14+ nations.
The week started with a fabulous opening parade and ceremony through the town, ending with a speech from the Mayor on the seafront.
Conditions have been a proper test of the sailors’ skills, with challenging Force 7 conditions, moderating to Force 3 on day 4. Lots of technical challenges including a broken mast and shredded spinnakers.
Going into the last day Max (Roa Island Boating Club) and Edie have held a position in the top 10 all week, Ben (Leigh & Lowton) and Freddie are in the second half of the Gold fleet and Kiera and James (Scaling Dam) are towards the top of Bronze fleet. Our sailors are performing brilliantly and there is still all to play for on the final day.
