Sailing into Success: A Triumphant Finish to the Academic Year
23 June 2025
Windermere School’s sailing team concluded the academic year on a high note with a remarkable showing at the North Region Youth & Junior Championships, held this past weekend at Ullswater Yacht Club. Despite challenging conditions, our sailors demonstrated outstanding resilience, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Thirteen dedicated pupils represented the school with distinction, and several delivered podium-worthy performances:
-
Immi & Ethan – 3rd place in the Regatta Fleet
-
Jennifer & Elizabeth – 1st place U14 in the RS Feva class
-
Elizabeth – 1st place Opposition Feva Crew
-
Angus – 1st place U14 in the Tera Pro class
These impressive results were matched by further successes elsewhere over the weekend:
-
Edie – Winner of the 29er Northern Series
-
Freddie & Jim – 12th overall in the highly competitive 29er Grand Prix Series
Each of our sailors should be immensely proud of their progress and commitment over the term. Their efforts have not only brought success on the water but have also reflected the values of perseverance and teamwork that lie at the heart of Windermere School.
In addition to competitive achievements, we recently celebrated our Boarders and Sailing End of Term Celebration, which followed a wonderful Senior School Prize Day. This occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the hard work and accomplishments of all involved in the sailing programme.
We also extend our congratulations and thanks to our three new parent volunteers who earned their Power Boat Level 2 qualifications — thank you for your continued support of our sailing programmes!
