One of the most amazing things about Windermere School is our access to a wider outdoor classroom, the whole Lake District is in fact our playground.

Last week Year 5 took their English lesson to the Langdale Valley to read the scariest chapter of their spooky class book, ‘Goth Girl’ in Rydal Caves. The class discussed what ‘wow words’, or adjectives are and noticed how all the descriptive words that they were reading in their book could be seen, smelt, felt and heard all around them in the caves. After hot chocolate and cookies, the class headed back into school where they wrote a piece of descriptive writing using their experiences as inspiration.

A few days later the class had a ‘Goth Girl Day’ which included making dippy eggs for breakfast with Mrs Kirkpatrick, a spot of duelling and a tight rope walk to re-access their classroom, all in one morning!
