Introduction to the Violin (8 to 14 years)
This course will give you a taste of playing the violin and help you decide if you would like to begin having lessons. There is no need to have played any instrument before. You will learn how to hold the violin and use the bow with an emphasis on making a good sound. By the end of the week, you should be able to play along to several tunes. You will learn as part of a small group in a relaxed atmosphere with the flexibility to take things at your own speed and get some individual help. The course uses games and engaging activities to teach music theory in a very accessible way. Rhythm skills, reading ‘the dots’, and the structure of music are all explored in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Violins are provided or you are welcome to bring your own if you have one.
Price: £160 per week (half day), Monday to Friday, 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
