At Elleray we are excited by the curiosity and thirst for learning that each child, regardless of their academic ability, naturally holds within themselves. Our task is to encourage each child to grow and learn. We allow them to ask ‘why’, to experiment, to challenge, to discover and to innovate.
Much of our magic is to be found in the extra-curricular provision away from the academic classroom. Drama productions, concerts and talent shows are frequent events, as well as outdoor performances overlooking the lake in the Summer term.
Windermere welcomes applications for children either as day or boarding students. We invite prospective parents and their families to visit Elleray and discover what makes us truly special.
Extensive lunchtime and after-school programmes provide an unmissable opportunity for each child to explore and discover their individual interests. Many pupils stay for activities after school, enjoying the wide range of clubs on offer.
The wellbeing of every child matters, and we take the responsibility of caring for them extremely seriously. We work tirelessly to ensure there is a nurturing atmosphere in which each child can feel secure.
The Elleray estate overlooks Lake Windermere and the Lake District fells beyond with Hodge Howe, our private water-sports center, just a mile away. At Windermere School we seek to inspire the children in everything they do and want them to enjoy their time at school in pursuit of personal and academic excellence.
The first time my daughter and I visited the school she said to me “that is a happy school no question.” The scholastic achievements of the school are evident and an easy measure for a school to demonstrate. What is hard to quantify is the holistic development of a pupil at which, in my experience, Windermere School excels.
Windermere School is such a unique community to be a part of. Not only is it based in a truly beautiful and inspiring national park, but the environment created by staff and students alike makes for an incredibly supportive, proactive, exciting and international place of learning in which everyone can thrive and be the best they can be.
