International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) is an internationally recognised qualification for students aged 16 to 18 taking the place of other qualifications, such as A Levels.

At Windermere, we offer two pathways through Sixth Form with the IB, both designed to challenge, extend, motivate and inspire you. You can be confident that the path you choose will transcend pure academics and equip you with the key transferable life skills that form the foundations of the International Baccalaureate.

You will open the door to your future with the ability to research and think critically, with the resilience and creativity to work through problems undaunted, with an innate understanding of community and service to others, with a global mindset and cultural understanding, ready to live a life without limits.

Why study the IB?

The IB curriculum is ideal preparation for the life that waits beyond the school gates, be that higher education, an apprenticeship or the workplace. The objective of the IB is to encourage breadth and balance as well as depth across the curriculum. This ensures that students do not specialise too narrowly before they go to university, guaranteeing a future full of unlimited possibilities. Through the IB students are encouraged to:

  • ask challenging questions
  • think critically
  • develop research skills proven to equip them for higher education
  • become culturally aware and develop a sense of international-mindedness

At Windermere, we offer four pathways through Sixth Form with the IB, designed to challenge, extend, motivate and inspire you. You can be confident that the path you choose will equip you with the key transferable life skills that will open the door to your future.
