3 December 2021

Windermere School, the only independent institution in the Lake District National Park, has again achieved a place among the UK’s top 150 schools in The Sunday Times Parent Power 2022 survey. Ranking 144th overall, the school was also commended within the region, ranking ninth in the top ten North West Independent Schools’ category.

This year, the school’s International Baccalaureate results were again exceptional, with the mean points average for candidates at 36.3, which is significantly above the world- average. In addition, over 75% of pupils secured their first-choice courses at prestigious universities. This level of academic achievement was reflected in the survey which commented that “Ranking ninth in the northwest, Windermere School, in the heart of the Lake District, won our 2018 UK International Baccalaureate School of the Year award for its exceptional performance in the broad-based qualification.”

Mr Peter Hogan, Executive Headmaster of Windermere School, said: “It is terrific to see Windermere School achieving national recognition once again.  We are a small school by choice, and the beauty of our location, the expertise of our staff, and the wealth of opportunities available to our pupils are enhanced by our size. Our team is dedicated to bringing out the very best in everyone, and our examination results, university destinations, and our pupils’ confidence testify to this commitment.”
