Windermere School’s Golden Boot Award

16 October 2020

This award goes to the top goal scorer in football matches across the whole school and Windermere had another great season last year, with some outstanding performances from all the age groups.

The competition for this award is fierce and the goals were flying in last season. 45 players managed to get on the scoresheet, scoring 175 goals between them. Joe S set the early pace and Sam S, Isaac H and Luis B kept banging the goals in to stay within touching distance of Windermere School’s premier trophy. Kacper D, 2019 winner of the golden boot, had a steady season in front of goal but he was not able to repeat his fireworks from the 2018-2019 campaign.

A glorious cup run by the Under 13 team led them to the final of the Cumbria Schools’ competition and, fuelled by the goals of their star striker, they finished as joint winners of the trophy. Key to that success was a player who can score from anywhere, even managing to lob the opposition goalkeeper with a halfway line half volley to secure victory in the semi-final. The 2020 winner of the Windermere School Golden Boot, with 19 goals, is ‘the fox in the box’ Cameron S. Well done Cameron!
