Windermere School Stannite NewsThe Power of Opportunity: Ari’s Story & The Stannite Bursary Fund

At Windermere School, we believe that talent, ambition, and potential should never be limited by financial circumstances. The Stannite Bursary Fund exists to provide life-changing opportunities for pupils who might not otherwise be able to experience all that our school has to offer. One such pupil is Ari, a proud Stannite whose journey was shaped by the generosity of bursary supporters. “As I came to the end of my primary education, my dad passed away in an accident, leaving my mum to manage on her own. Together, we decided that Windermere School was the right place for me to pursue my love of science and learning, and to grow in confidence and courage—but without a bursary, this would have been unmanageable on a single income.”

Thanks to the bursary fund, support from family, and personal determination, Ari was able to spend six years at Windermere School, completing GCSEs and the IB Diploma. Today, Ari has channelled this foundation into an inspiring career as a hydroinformatics engineer, designing solutions for flood forecasting and water management. Based in Cornwall, Ari continues to embrace adventure—whether running, surfing, or volunteering for mountain and cave rescue teams. “The education, confidence, and friendships I developed at Windermere School are fundamental to who I am now, and I’m incredibly grateful for this support.”

Windermere School Stannite NewsAri’s story is just one example of the incredible impact a Windermere School education can have. Windermere School Stannite NewsA Stannite’s Legacy – Stephanie de Boissière

Stephanie de Boissière, a devoted Stannite now residing in The Bahamas, holds cherished memories of her time at Windermere School—well, apart from the beetroot at lunch! Joining Elleray at the age of five, Stephanie’s journey with Windermere has come full circle, not only as a former pupil but also as a parent.

Demonstrating her enduring commitment to the school, Stephanie is generously sponsoring one of our new classrooms, which will be named Tarn Hows. Her support will help shape the future of the next generation of Stannites, leaving a meaningful and lasting legacy within the Windermere community.

Now, you have the opportunity to make an impact too! By sponsoring a room at Browhead, you can celebrate your connection to Windermere School and ensure its continued growth and excellence for years to come.

Join us in shaping the future—one classroom at a time.
