STANNITE NEWS

Windermere School Stannites Winter FunStannites Embrace the Winter Wonderland in the Lake District

The Lake District has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland during this recent cold spell, and the Stannite spirit has been out in full force, making the most of the snow-covered landscapes. From skiing and snowboarding on the picturesque slopes to hiking the snow-capped fells, our Stannites have been relishing the beauty and adventure of the season.

Photos have been pouring in, capturing Stannites carving through the fresh snow, exploring frozen trails and basking in the stunning vistas unique to this time of year. Whether on skis, snowboards, or simply bundled up for a walk among the frosted peaks, these moments showcase the love for the outdoors that unites so many in our community.

The Head of Alumni and Community, Jo Gaskin, commented, “It’s wonderful to see Stannites enjoying the beauty of the Lake District during this cold snap. The photos we’ve received capture not just the stunning scenery but also the adventurous and spirited essence of our alumni.”

Windermere School Stannites Winter FunWe would love to see more of your winter adventures! Whether you’ve been skiing, snowboarding, or simply enjoying a peaceful snowy walk, please share your photos with us. Together, we can celebrate the natural beauty of our surroundings and the indomitable Stannite spirit.

Here’s to making the most of the season and embracing the opportunities for adventure, connection, and inspiration that the Lake District offers. Keep the photos coming, and stay warm out there!

Windermere School Stannites ReunionStannites Reunite at Browhead for a Morning of Memories and Laughter

This December, Browhead Campus was filled with joy and nostalgia as 20 Stannites, all celebrating their 50th birthdays, returned to Windermere School for a heartfelt reunion. These remarkable women, once members of our close-knit boarding community, gathered proudly in their Stannite hoodies, reigniting the bonds that first formed during their school days.

The morning was a vibrant tapestry of laughter, tears, and shared memories. Walking through the familiar grounds, the group reflected on their time at Browhead, sharing stories of adventures, triumphs and the friendships that have stood the test of time. From lively conversations in the dining hall to quiet moments revisiting favourite spots, it was a reunion that brought the past vividly to life.

For the school, it was a heart-warming reminder of the enduring connections fostered within our community.

The event celebrated not only the memories of the past but also the shared values and camaraderie that continue to unite our alumni. As these women rekindled their bond with the school and each other, the morning was a powerful reflection of the lifelong impact of their time at Windermere School.

Here’s to the Stannite spirit, the friendships that last a lifetime and the memories that continue to grow. Thank you to all who attended and brought your love and energy back to campus.

Calling All Knitters: Join Our Poppy Project to Commemorate 80 Years Since WWII

The Bowness and Windermere Community Care Trust is seeking knitters to help create poppies for a meaningful community project marking 80 years since the end of World War II.

In partnership with local senior citizen communities, they’re creating a stunning poppy display to honour this significant anniversary. The completed piece will be exhibited in the War Memorial Gardens in Windermere this May, thanks to the support of Windermere Town Council.

If you’d like to contribute, Mrs Backhouse can provide a simple knitting pattern. Please send your finished poppies to the Trust by Friday, 4th April.

Join us in this heartfelt tribute to history and community spirit!
